EU CBRN CoE Project 46: Brunei hosts Biorisk Management Workshop
An EU-supported National Laboratory Experts (NLE) Workshop on Biorisk Management was held in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam on 27-28 November 2017.
The workshop was opened by the French Ambassador to Brunei, H.E. Loan Forgeron, on behalf of the EU. The two-day programme was led by two trainers from Brunei: Sia Fwu Shii and Woo Boon Chu, Scientific Officers at the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory of the Bruneian Ministry of Health.
Project 46 of the EU Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence Initiative (CBRN CoE) facilitated the creation of a Biorisk Expert Team (BET) from eight Southeast Asian countries, including strengthening the capacities of the two trainers.
Members of this BET were trained to become trainers and are cascading their knowledge in workshops to national laboratory experts in their respective countries.
