EU-India Conference on Advanced Biofuels, New Delhi, 6th - 8th March 2018

Government of India increasingly mentions the need to increase the use of indigenous resources for energy security purposes.
The Indian Government has announced an ambitious programme to accelerate the deployment of advanced biofuels by the construction of 12 advanced biofuels plants within the next 3-4 years. Already a European consortium has been shortlisted while other are trying to also enter the competition. India presents excellent business opportunities for EU industry on advanced biofuels. The Indian Government has empowered the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MPNG) to implement this programme. Mr Sandeep Poundrik, (Joint secretary MPNG), has been empowered by the Minister of MPNG to manage the programme for the deployment of the 12 advanced biofuels plants.
The Indian government and stakeholders have expressed on several occasions their interest to cooperate on advanced biofuels with the EU.
The conference on advanced biofuels was organised to kick start such cooperation. The conference was a joint bilateral event between DG ENER & MPNG.
In order to facilitate the contacts between the EU technology developers and Indian market players a dedicated business to business meeting was scheduled on the afternoon of 6 March.
There were 17 short presentations by EU technology developers during this meeting.
