Are you a researcher that wants to address a research problem so ambitious, that it  cannot be dealt with by you or your team alone? The ERC Synergy Grant could be for you!

The ERC Synergy Grant is one of the schemes offered by the European Research Council (ERC) under the EU’s new Research and Innovation framework programme ‘Horizon Europe’.

The Grant is intended to enable minimum two to maximum four Principal Investigators (PIs). Applications are expected from a group of innovative and active PIs and must present an early achievement track-record or a 10-year track-record, whichever is most appropriate for their career stage (ERC Starting, Consolidator or Advanced Grant profiles).

PIs can be located in different countries and/or institutions as well as sectors. Up to one PI from a country outside of Europe (Third Country/India) can participate in a Synergy Grant. A maximum of € 10 million for a period of 6 years (pro rata for projects of shorter duration) and in addition € 4 million can be requested in the proposal to cover costs like start-up costs for researchers relocating to Europe for the grant, purchase of equipment, access to large facilities.

For the specific conditions: see ERC Synergy Grant (ERC-2022-SYG).

Act now: the call opened on 15 July 2021 with closing deadline on 10 November 2021
