We celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Rome Treaties and Europe Day with the President of Iceland in a full house event at the Nordic House in Reykjavík. Lots of fun!
We had a full house in our European "Birthday Party" last Friday! The President of the Republic came and gave a great speech on the specificities of Iceland within European integration. "Monday, the 25th of March 1957, was a remarkable date in the history of the nations of Europe, and indeed of all humankind," said the President, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson. The guests clapped so loud after the speech the President almost had to do an encore! The event was additionally covered by TV and web news sites. And photographed by the brilliant Mr Anton Brink. A big thank you to the Nordic House and to the Institute of International Affairs of the University of Iceland who helped us organise this great event, celebrating the anniversary of the signing of the Rome Treaties and Europe Day. Not least, a big thank you to our friends and colleagues who attended!
