The Prime Minister of Iceland, Bjarni Benediktsson, came and visited us on 16 February, when there was roughly a month since his government took over. Mr Benediktsson informed us about the government's main policy issues, in particular those with an international angle such as the EEA Agreement, climate change and the capital controls.
The meeting took place during a regular meeting in which the ambassador of the EU receives the ambassadors of the EU Member States. They had many questions for the PM and said it had been a good meeting. "I have known Bjarni for many years and he realises very well the importance of having a level playing field within the European Economic Area. We look forward to working with him in the future," says ambassador Matthias Brinkmann.
