Two years after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the European Union together with Spain, Germany and France in Honduras reaffirm their solidarity with Ukraine.

The Ambassador of the European Union (EU) in Honduras, Jaume Segura, the Ambassador of Germany, Daniela Vogl, the Ambassador of France, Cédric Prieto, and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Spain, Baltasar Fernández received an official visit from the Special Representative of Ukraine for Latin America and the Caribbean, Ambassador Ruslan Spirin.

February 19, 2024, Tegucigalpa- The Ambassador of the European Union (EU) in Honduras, Jaume Segura, the Ambassador of Germany, Daniela Vogl, the Ambassador of France, Cédric Prieto, and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Spain, Baltasar Fernández received an official visit from the Special Representative of Ukraine for Latin America and the Caribbean, Ambassador Ruslan Spirin.

During the visit, the EU, Spain, France and Germany reiterated their commitment to provide political, humanitarian, economic and military support to Ukraine in the face of Russia's invasion. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion and 10 years since Russia first invaded Ukraine, the EU and its Member States continue to support the restoration of the full sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and its 1991 borders.

The European Union and its member states have acted primarily on three criteria: support for Ukraine, pressure on Russia to stop its illegal aggression, and help the rest of the world deal with the consequences of the invasion.

  • More than 88 billion euros mobilized so far by Team Europe.
    • 71 billion euros from the EU, Member States and European financial institutions in financial, humanitarian, emergency budgetary and military aid.
    • Up to 17 billion euros to Member States to take in people fleeing war.
  • On February 6, 2024, following the extraordinary European Council at which the EU leader confirmed all the priorities of the Commission's proposal of June 20, 2023, co-legislators reached a provisional agreement to enable the creation of the "Ukraine Reserve" to support Ukraine. With a total capacity of €50 billion over 2024-2027, the Ukraine Reserve will address Ukraine's immediate needs, as well as its recovery and modernization on its path towards the EU.
  • The EU has coordinated more than 2,800 medical evacuations of Ukrainian patients to provide specialized care in hospitals across Europe.
  • Nearly 4 million people have registered for temporary protection in the EU.
  • Since February 25, 2022, the European Union, in cooperation with its international partners, has imposed 12 packages of tough sanctions. The sanctions that have been implemented so far:
    • To nearly 1,950 individuals and entities
    • To more than 40 countries
    • To all non-government-controlled areas of Ukraine in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts
