What we offer?

A traineeship of up to 6 months within the Political Press & Information Section and the Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to Papua New Guinea, starting in October 2019.

Traineeship in Political, Press & Information Section:  Main tasks:

• Assist in organising Public Relations activities which include drafting and the editing of copy document for the Delegation (i.e. Draft Press Release, Draft Statement/Speech, Draft Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials and engage with local and international media etc.;
• Assist the section with media tracking by following on daily EU placement in publications such as newspapers, online news, websites and magazines etc. and keeping up to date a scrapbooking file of the placements, both electronically and actual press clippings. 
• Produce the Delegation's Press Review, from analysing PNG Press
• Provide constructive feedback regarding EU in PNG visibility methods 
• Assist with ongoing management of content for the Delegation' s Website and using available resources to pre-plan content for the Delegation's Social Media pages.
• Attend and participate in meetings of the section as well as policy dialogue meetings and assist with putting together briefs and flash reports;
• Assist the section to organise public diplomacy campaigns and activities for the Delegation. This includes the conceptualization and implementation of large scale events and forward planning of other similar activities.
• Participate in Tenders and Call for Proposals process;
• Any other work-related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor. 

Traineeship in Cooperation Section: Main tasks:

• Assist in the drafting and the editing of copy document for the Section including support to the review of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials and project documents etc.;
• Attend and participate in section meetings and policy dialogue meetings and assist with putting together briefs and flash reports;
• Accompany Project Manager(s) if possible on project monitoring missions;
• Assist the respective section to assess projects,  reports and provide feedback on issues covered by the section
• Contribute to the Delegations reporting on current developments in Papua New Guinea as well as the EU-PNG development cooperation and partnership;
• Engage in a longer term research for a comprehensive report of a subject topic agreed to by the Section;
• Participate in Tenders and Call for Proposals process;
• Update CSO-LA / European organisations Contact Listings and;
• Any other work-related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor. 

Qualifications or special requirements:

• Applicants interested in the Traineeship within the Political Press & Information Section must have graduated from a university or equivalent higher-education establishment with at least a Bachelor's level in International Relations /Politics, Journalism & Public Relations
• Applicants interested in the Traineeship within the Cooperation Section must have graduated from a university or equivalent higher-education establishment with at least a Bachelor's level in Gender and Development Studies, Economics and/or International Trade;

Important information

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travel inside the country of residence, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
