EPF delivery of military equipment further strengthens the longstanding EU-Ghana partnership

The equipment strengthens Ghana’s ability to protect its cherished stability, a model for the sub-region and beyond, exemplified by the smooth democratic transition in 2024.
Amid escalating security threats in West Africa, the equipment delivered to Ghana benefits the sub-region as well. The delivery of military equipment is a key component of EU’s comprehensive support to Ghana in the field of security and defence, making the best use of all the EU available tools in an integrated manner, positioning the European Union as the main security partner of Ghana.
This donation is part of a EUR 50 million EPF package of non-lethal military equipment. It follows the provision of 105 militarized vehicles in 2023, with additional support scheduled through 2025 and 2026. First user training is offered within the EPF package and further training will be offered through the European Union Security and Defence Initiative (EUSDI) for the Gulf of Guinea Coastal Countries.
The successful delivery and hand-over was made possible by a team effort, associating several EU services (EEAS/European Commission/ EUDEL), the implementing entity (Economat des Armees) and the relevant Ghanaian authorities (army, customs, national security, foreign affairs).
