The Delegation of the EU to Ghana is looking for an intern starting as from 15 April 2018 at the Political, Press and Information Section.

What we offer?


A traineeship within the Political/Information Section of the Delegation of the EU in Accra


The Political/Information Section is responsible for - periodical reporting to headquarters on political developments in Ghana; - presentation of EU relevant policies to the Ghanaian public; - relations with institutions and civil society organizations; - organization of events and participation in other stakeholders initiatives; - Human rights, Erasmus, European Week, Freedom of Press and other similar issues.


Main tasks for the intern:

  • Contribute to regular and ad hoc political reporting
  • Contribute to organization of events
  • Contribute to press and information activities and notably to social media
  • Participation in external initiatives
  • Production on material for information (photos, videos, articles, notes)
  • Contribution for the preparation of speeches and other texts
  • Elaboration of an efficient system for archiving relevant social media materials


Are you eligible for remunerated traineeship?


You may apply for the traineeship if:

  • You are a young graduate with a University diploma (at least Bachelor degree)
  • You have less than 1 year of professional experience
  • You are a national of an EU Member State or pre-accession State or from the  country where the Delegation is accredited
  • You have no previous professional experience in any of the EU institutions of more than 6 weeks


Additional requirements that would be an asset


  • Knowledge of relevant European Union policies and programmes
  • Demonstrable experience in communication/socialmedia/new technologies


What are the general rules?

  • Duration: the traineeship will last six months
  • Monthly grant:  selected trainees will receive a monthly grant of 400 euros
  • Visa: trainees are responsible for obtaining and covering the cost of necessary visa (the Delegation will provide an invitation letter)
  • Travel: trainees have to arrange and finance their travel to the EU Delegation
  • Insurance: Trainees have to contract at their expenses a suitable sickness/accident insurance including repatriation coverage
  • Accommodation: Trainees will have to cover the accommodation costs (quite high for Accra).  The Delegation will provide some info regarding available accommodation

- Medical certificate (from your usual practitioner)

- Signed traineeship agreement



You are requested to examine the general eligibility criteria. Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications received is over, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. In case the selected candidate is not able to present all required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
