EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian is visiting the Kyrgyz Republic

The European Union’s Special Representative (EUSR) for Central Asia, Ambassador Peter Burian, arrived in the Kyrgyz Republic on 27 January.

During the visit, Peter Burian will attend the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov per invitation of the hosts. In addition, the EUSR plans to hold bilateral meetings with President Japarov, acting Deputy Prime Minister Ravshanbek Sabirov and acting Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbayev.

The sides will discuss EU-Kyrgyz Republic cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, including bilateral as well as regional political dialogues and development cooperation. Current political processes in the Kyrgyz Republic, state of play in human rights and advancement of democracy will also be discussed. Particular attention in discussing regional cooperation format will be devoted to organization of the first EU-Central Asia Economic Forum which is planned to take place in Bishkek in second part of 2021.

Apart from bilateral meetings, Ambassador Burian will meet with heads of diplomatic missions of the European Union Member States accredited to the Kyrgyz Republic.
