The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 28 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organisations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.
The EU Delegation to Ukraine is one of those 140 delegations. Its mandate includes promoting the political and economic relations between Ukraine and the European Union, monitoring the implementation of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine; informing the public of the development of the EU and explaining policies and participating in the implementation of the European Union's assistance programmes.
We offer a temporary post of a Project Officer. Under this post, the recruited person will be engaged as an interim support staff member for the Operations section (maternity leave replacement of current jobholder). The specific duties of the employee shall be decided and may be adapted by the employer according to the needs of the European Union. Under this job function the successful candidate will serve as technical and support staff in the area of migration and border management and is expected to implement the following tasks and functions:
Information and Communication
The tasks will be conducted under the supervision and responsibility of the relevant head of section.
The successful candidate will be based in Kyiv. Working time: 37.5 working hours/week. A contract governed by local employment legislation, will be concluded as limited term contract. The objective of the contract of employment is to support the Delegation's section in the absence of the staff member on maternity leave. Therefore, this position is temporary in nature: consequently a contract of indefinite duration cannot be offered.
This fixed-term contract will be concluded for 4.5 months and it is foreseen to start in the beginning of February 2020. Applicants should be aware that this post cannot be converted into an indefinite post.

After the evaluation of all applications received is over, shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview. An interview will be held in the Delegation's premises located at 101, Volodymyrska St., Kyiv.

After the deadline for applications, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a short-list of candidates who are considered to be the most suitable for the post on the basis of a preliminary assessment of the information provided in their application letter and the supporting documents. The short-listed candidates will be invited to an assessment phase which includes an interview – during this phase the Selection Committee will assess the suitability of the candidates for the post.
The candidates who have not been short-listed will not be contacted individually; however, the Delegation will use the same means of publication as for this Vacancy Notice to inform the remaining candidates once the recruitment procedure has been completed and that a candidate has (or has not) been recruited.
