Representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine are taking part in an Eastern Partnership Platform 2 event entitled ‘Opening up qualifications and skills for mobility’.
Georgian Minister of Education, Alexsandre Jejeleva, and the EU’s Ambassador to Georgia, Janos Herman, join key stakeholders from the EU as well as international and regional organisations for the conference hosted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the European Commission and the European Training Foundation. It is a sequel to the 2015 Eastern Partnership event on skills and migration, but the emphasis this time around will be on the qualifications dimension of mobility broadly, including legal and circular migration.
Migration and mobility are moving up the policy agenda in the EU and in its neighbouring countries. This event will address how countries can reform relevant elements in their qualification systems and explores how EU systems of recognition of qualifications and validation of skills function related to mobility processes.
All six countries involved are sending, receiving and transit countries. The EU’s Association Agreements provide for use of qualifications frameworks in recognising qualifications and validating skills, while mobility partnerships are tools to regulate legal, circular migration.
Venue: Holiday Inn Hotel, 26 May Square 1, Tbilisi, Georgia

The vocational education and training (VET) environment is complex, and requires new skills and cooperative ways of working. Through its work the ETF, a decentralised agency of the European Union, aims to make VET a driver for lifelong learning, sustainable development, competitiveness, and social cohesion in its 29 partner countries.
