Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan, H. E. Mr Jean-François Cautain reiterated EU's commitment against climate change while speaking at the Policy Advocacy workshop on the implementation of resources and energy efficient technologies in sugar sector of Pakistan (IREET) in Islamabad on 3 April.  During the convention organised under the EU-funded SWITCH ASIA Programme in collaboration with Pakistan National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA), the EU Ambassador Mr Cautain also highlighted that Pakistan is amongst the countries most affected by climate change. Due to the vulnerability, cooperation on Climate Change has taken priority in EU-Pakistan Strategic Engagement Plan agreed recently by Foreign Minister Mahmood Qureshi and the visiting EU HR/VP Federica Mogherini. Ambassador Cautain further emphasised that the EU and its Member States have fought long against climate change by setting up CO2 emission cut targets and setting up low carbon based economy — a key challenge to curtail dramatic changes in next two decades. Ambassador Cautain urged Pakistan Government to facilitate the business environment for the industrial sector including sugar sector and green economy promotion.
