UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL - 37th session. EU intervention: Item 2: Interactive Dialogue with High Commissioner for Human Rights.

In Gabon, the EU remains concerned about continued allegations of serious and persistent human rights violations and abuses since the 2016 presidential elections and calls on the authorities to investigate and prosecute those responsible. The EU calls on the authorities to take all the measures to ensure the respect of human rights and fundamental freedoms, and to create the conditions for the legislative elections which have been announced to lead to a reconciliation of the Gabonese people. The EU aims to reaffirm its human rights concerns and encourages the Government to engage within the framework of the Intensified Political Dialogue with the EU in a spirit of mutual respect and constructive cooperation.
