"EU for YOU!" in Butel municipality: air quality monitoring station to be put into operation

On Tuesday, 13 March 2018, Ambassador Samuel Žbogar, Head of the Delegation of the European Union, together with the Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Sadula Duraki, the Mayor of Skopje, Petre Shilegov, and the Mayor of Butel Municipality, Velimir Smilevski, will put into operation the air quality monitoring station in the municipality of Butel.


The first municipality to use this EU-funded mobile air quality monitoring station is the municipality of Butel. As of tomorrow, the citizens of Butel will be able to follow the quality of the air they breathe.


The monitoring station is part of European Union's continuous support for the air quality sector realised in close partnership with the national authorities. The EU has also provided a specialized vehicle for performing regular calibration and maintenance services along with number of other instruments to improve the air quality monitoring network across the country.


The beneficiary of this project is the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning and the total value is 272,000 EUR.


This event is part of the "EU for YOU!" campaign whose objective is to raise awareness and inform the public about the EU assistance in the country.
