The Government of the Independent State of Samoa (hereinafter Samoa), represented by the Hon Mr Tuilaepa Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi, Prime Minister of Samoa, in his capacity as Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and the European Union (EU) represented by the HE Mr Andrew Jacobs, Ambassador, Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Pacific, on behalf of High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, met in Apia on 4 October 2016, pursuant Article 8 of the Contonou Agreement. This was the first Enhanced Political Dialogue between the Independent State of Samoa and the European Union. Civil society and private sectors representatives attended the meeting.
The Delegation of the European Union for the Pacific is pleased to announce the planned visit of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Vice President, Mr. Ambroise Fayolle to Fiji. During his visit it is foreseen that VP Fayolle will meet with Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama as well as Fiji’s Minister for Economy, Public Enterprises, Public Service & Communications, Mr. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. Further meetings will be held with European Union Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific, Andrew Jacobs and other foreign dignitaries to discuss further cooperation, as well as with Development Partners, stakeholders and the Media.
Around 75 participants from the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, the Federated States of Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, the Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, the Solomon Islands, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna, and Pitcairn, as well as from EU Delegations from across the Pacific Region, other donors and two Regional Organisations are attending a week-long (24-28 October) training course on Budget Support and the EU's "Blending" aid modality. The course is organised jointly by the Delegation of the European Union for the Pacific and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) at the Novotel Hotel, Lami.
