Today, an estimated 152 million children are victims of child labour worldwide. These 152 million children are being denied their right to have access to education and to a safe living environment. On the occasion of the World Day against Child Labour on 12 June, the European Union, alongside its international partners, reiterates its strong commitment towards guaranteeing the fundamental human rights of every child, as defined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development target to end child labour in all its forms by 2025.

Representatives from fifteen (15) Pacific islands have gathered in Nadi this week in the framework of the Pacific- European Union Waste Management Programme (PacWaste) to discuss how to reduce the production of, and improve the management of, hazardous wastes, solid wastes and waterways impacted by solid waste in the Pacific, including Fiji.

Le Bureau de la Commission européenne pour les PTOM à Nouméa s'occupe de mettre en oeuvre des projets financés dans le cadre du Fonds européen de développement dans le Pacifique et plus particulièrement en Nouvelle-Calédonie, en Polynésie Française, à Wallis-et-Futuna et dans les îles Pitcairn. Il est rattaché à la Délégation de l'Union européenne dans le Pacifique basée à Suva, Fidji.

The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) in partnership with the European Union (EU), will be hosting the Pacific–European Union Waste Management Programme (PacWaste Plus) Inception Meeting in Nadi, Fiji from 27 to 29 May.
