The aim of the programme is to support mini/off-grid projects that will improve access to energy in rural or peri-urban areas, with significant benefits to people without access to reliable sources of energy. The deadline for the submission of proposals is 15 July 2020 at 20h00 (CET).

Small-scale renewable energy electrification solutions for underserved populations

Private entities such as companies, consultants, commercial banks, fund managers to submit proposals for the Renewable Energy Support Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa. The aim of the programme is to improve energy access in underserved rural and/or peri-urban areas. 

This Request for Proposals seeks proposals for projects that will develop small-scale renewable energy electrification projects that will distribute electricity to a limited number of customers (either households, industries, or both) through a distribution network that can operate in isolation from national transmission networks.

Duration and location

The project period may not exceed 24 months but the operation period of the project should have a lifespan beyond the duration of the financing provided.
