Success Story: European Development Days (EDD Nicaragua 2019)

19/07/2019 - 00:36

The Nicaragua edition of the EDD 2019, was focused on one of the main themes of the EDD Brussels: Planet (climate change, environment).

The specific theme of the EDD Nicaragua was focused on "The protection of the oceans and the conservation of biodiversity". It was attended by more than 250 students from different Nicaraguan universities, academics and representatives of the private sector and national social movements working on environment protection.

The event was developed in partnership with Jovenes Ambientalistas, a very important nicaraguan young leaders movement. In fact, its current Executive Director, Joselin Manzanares, participated at a lecture on climate change as part of the Young Leaders Programme in EDD Brussels 2016.

The EDD Nicaragua began with the key speaker Edgar Castañeda, ecologist specializing in natural resources management with the lecture "Current State of the Oceans", then was organized a panel on the theme "Healthy Oceans: building an inclusive agenda", with the participation of five national experts.
