DODOMA; Tuesday, 9 April 2019: More than 100 stakeholders are expected to participate in the Fifth Climate Change Symposium and Expo 2019 from 10th to 11th April 2019 at Morena Hotel in Dodoma, Tanzania. The Symposium has been convened by FORUMCC jointly with Tanzania Traditional Energy Development and Environment Organisation (TaTEDO) and the Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF), with the financial support of the European Union (EU) and Oxfam.

THE 5th CLIMATE CHANGE SYMPOSIUM AND EXPO 2019

DODOMA; Tuesday, 9 April 2019: More than 100 stakeholders are expected to participate in the Fifth Climate Change Symposium and Expo 2019 from 10th to 11th April 2019 at Morena Hotel in Dodoma, Tanzania. The Symposium has been convened by FORUMCC jointly with Tanzania Traditional Energy Development and Environment Organisation (TaTEDO) and the Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF), with the financial support of the European Union (EU) and Oxfam.

The 2019 Symposium will be held under the theme of “Achieving Policy Coherence, Inspiring Accountable Climate Actions”. The theme emphasizes policy harmonization between sectors and promotion of accountable climate actions at local and national levels. The guest of honour is expected to be Honourable January Makamba (Minister of State, Vice President’s Office, Environment and Union Affairs). Other invited high-level officials are Honourable Selemani Said Jaffo (Minister of State, President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government) who will provide a keynote speech on the second day as well as Honourable George Joseph Kakunda (Minister of Industry and Trade); and Mr Charles Stuart (Chargé d'Affaires of the European Union Delegation to Tanzania and the EAC).

The two-day Symposium will have plenary and break-out sessions focusing on sub-themes. The main plenary session will specifically address Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) Implementation: What is at Stake?” The discussion will contribute to and recommend better policy options and actions to fulfil our national climate change objectives and contribute to global efforts under the new climate regime.

The Climate Change Symposium is an annual FORUMCC flagship event that brings together civil society organization representatives from the government, development partners, academic institutions, youths, community, women and media to discuss and propose solutions to address climate change and its related issues.

The European Union has as part of its commitment to reduce the impact of Climate Change in Tanzania supported the event through its funding to ForumCC for two consecutive years now.
