Call for Proposals – Strengthening the role of Civil Society in promoting inclusive development in Fiji.

The Delegation of the European Union for the Pacific has launched its new Call for Proposals for CSO in Fiji (ref. EuropeAid/162808/DD/ACT/FJ). The indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is EUR 4.4 Million. The Call for Proposals is composed of two different lots.

Lot 1 Development Cooperation Instrument for Civil Society Organisations and Local Authorities (CSO-LA) with the following specific objective;

To increase participation of CSOs in addressing climate change, both in terms of mitigation of and adaptation to its adverse effects, including through disaster risk reduction or resilience. Under this lot, the priority activities are:

a) To support the building capacities of CSOs to actively participate in policy making and advocacy related to climate change and its effects, disaster risk reduction and resilience as well as environmental sustainability;

b) To facilitate the transition to a climate-resilient, low-emissions, circular economy through communities' centred actions to achieve i.e. resource efficiency, sustainable consumption and production, as well as reducing, recycling and reusing waste;

c) To promote ecosystem or nature-based approaches to cope with climate change mitigation and adaptation challenges, using ecosystem services to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to conserve and expand carbon sinks, as well as enhance resilience to the impacts of climate change.

Lot 2 European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights Country Based Support Scheme (EIDHR CBSS) with two specific objectives;

i) To support civil society in furthering EU human rights priorities in Fiji

ii) To support civil society in strengthening democracy in Fiji.

Two information sessions will be organised:  on Monday 18/03/2019 in Suva,  on Tuesday 19/03/2019 in Lautoka.
