Invitations for the press

To raise awareness about the increasing challenges posed by marine litter, the European Union Ambassador to Fiji, His Excellency Julian Wilson will lead the Delegation of the European Union for the Pacific staff to a beach clean-up.

Every year millions of tons of trash end up in the ocean. It is estimated that by 2050 there could be more plastic than fish in its waters. The EU is determined to prevent this bleak prospect from becoming a reality and is committed to protecting the oceans and seas, while ensuring their sustainable use.

The beach clean-up will take place at the Suva Foreshore on Tuesday, 3rd October starting at 9:30am.  At 9:00am Ambassador Wilson will deliver some opening remarks at the My Suva Park Bure.

Journalists who wish to attend are invited to contact Mr. Mohammed Nazeem Kasim on Phone: (+679) 3313 633 (Ext 110) or email:

Light refreshments will be provided at 12:00 noon.
