On 09 May 2025, the European Union in Eswatini marked Europe Day 2025 with a colourful event held in Malkerns and attended by scores of people, among them high profile dignitaries who included a representative of His Majesty King Mswati III, Prince Guduza, Deputy Prime Minister, Thuli Dladla, Cabinet Ministers, parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic community and civil society organisations.

A free, independent and pluralistic media is vital for resilient and healthy democracies. As such, the European Union (EU) remains steadfast in its commitment to protect media freedom and pluralism across the world. In defending media freedom, the EU is protecting not just the right to know, but the ability to shape a future guided by truth and accountability.
