EU supports Eswatini’s Youth Development Coordination Framework

The youth of Eswatini has entered a new phase following the development and successful launch on 30 March 2026 of the National Youth Development Coordination Framework, whose formulation was supported by the European Union (EU).

This comprehensive document encompasses Stakeholder Database, Coordination Framework, coordination of the Inter-Ministerial Committee, Youth Development Consortium, Monitoring and Evaluation Plan, and Operational Plan.

The Prime Minister, Russell Dlamini, along with the EU Ambassador to Eswatini, Karsten Mecklenburg, and the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima, launched this document at an event held in Mbabane, which brought together government, youth representatives and development partners.

During this event, the EU reaffirmed its commitment to supporting youth empowerment and inclusive development in Eswatini, recognising young people as key drivers of socio-economic progress.

Ambassador Mecklenburg said: “The framework marks a significant step in our shared journey, hence I would like to send appreciation to all implementing organisations that have seen the need for such a coordination framework. This shows the understanding that no single organisation can solve the issues affecting the youth in Eswatini.”

On the other hand, the Prime Minister, Russell Dlamini, expressed gratitude to the EU for their support for the programme and their support towards youth in the country.

The launch was a great success, marking a renewed commitment to coordinated action, stronger partnerships, and sustainable opportunities for youth in Eswatini.
