The 17th European Film Festival officially launched on April 25, 2025 in Asmara marking the start of three weeks celebration of European cinema and culture.

At the invitation of the Government of the State of Eritrea, on the 3 rd and 4 th of April 2025, Ms. Rita Laranjinha, the EEAS’s Managing Director for Africa and Mr. Jonas Jonsson, the Horn of Africa Head of Division, visited Asmara to hold high-level discussions with key interlocutors, focusing on regional, economic and human rights issues.
