Permanent Representatives to the League of Arab States (LAS) and the European Union (EU) Political and Security Committee held their seventh meeting on 23 January 2019 at the LAS headquarters in Cairo. The working group sessions on enhancing cooperation between the League of Arab States and the European Union were also convened on the margins of the meeting.


The European Union (EU) in Egypt honoured the winners of its 11th annual photography competition entitled "Description of Modern Egypt" in a ceremony on 13 December at Bayt Al-Sinnari, organised in cooperation with Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA). Mr. Ivan Surkoš, Ambassador of the EU to Egypt, and Dr. Khaled Azab, Head of the BA Central Projects and Services Sector, attended the ceremony and inaugurated an exhibition showcasing the best 30 photos, which will be open to public until 19 December.


The EU and Egypt undertook closer cooperation in many areas, notably on socio-economic development, scientific research, energy, migration, countering terrorism and regional issues.


All three associations have dedicated themselves to fostering a compatible and transparent energy regulation by promoting best practices and exchanging experiences. There are also some common memberships of the organisations, which naturally promotes convergence of goals and principles.

This report covers the period from June 2017 to May 2018. It assesses the achievements and policy developments in Egypt, with a focus on priority areas in our cooperation.

The EU- funded EEPI project will help Egyptian companies through their export journey to Europe by fostering their capacity to innovate in their products to meet European markets requirements. To achieve this aim, the project will assess the European market needs, and identify concrete export opportunities for Egyptian products. Companies will then be supported in developing innovative business and product concepts, and commercializing these products in the EU market through business matchmaking with European partners.

On this day, 70 years ago, the Member States of the United Nations came together to adopt the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This step brought the world together after the greatest tragedy in human history. We have come a long way since then.

The European Union (EU) in Egypt, along with its partners, commemorated the “International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)”, celebrated annually on the 3rd of December. This comes in line with the EU’s strong commitment to support the inclusion and full participation of PwDs in society.


The European Union (EU) in Egypt announced the three winners of the 11th edition of its Annual Photography Competition with the theme of "Description of Modern Egypt". 197 people participated in the competition, submitting more than 530 photos from various cities and governorates around Egypt.
