On the occasion of the 10th Africa Day for Food and Nutrition Security held in Egypt, Ambassador Ivan Surkoš, Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Egypt, and Dr. Ezz El Din Abu Steit, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation opened today the North Africa Event under the title "Building Research and Innovation Collaborations within the frame of the African-European Partnership and the Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA) Road Map".
Within the activities of the 2nd Cairo Water Week (CWW), the "EU-UfM Egypt Water Governance and Business Forum" took place from 20 to 21 October. More than 33 organizations and 100 water experts representing several countries from the Euro-Mediterranean region attended it.

Mostafa Madbouly launched today the 2nd Cairo Water Week (CWW) in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aty, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and Maciej Popowski, Deputy Director-General for EU Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, along with Ambassador Nasser Kamel, Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Yousef Bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeenthe, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), representatives of the League of Arab States, and experts in the water sector from around the world.
The European Union (EU) and its Member States are committed to promote women’s and girls' rights around the globe. The initiative of EU Gender Champion has been launched globally to support this commitment. Egypt is part and parcel of a global family of countries, where gender issues matter.
EU foreign affairs ministers, gathered today in Luxembourg for a Foreign Affairs Council, have condemned Turkey's military action in north east Syria. "We have a common united European Union position … on the developments in the north-east of Syria … there is a clear condemnation from the European Union’s side of Turkey’s military action", said High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini at the press conference following the Council.
The European Union (EU) and the Council of Europe firmly oppose the death penalty at all times and in all circumstances. The death penalty is a cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment contrary to the right to life. The death penalty means revenge, not justice, and its abolition contributes to the enhancement of human dignity.
