This project aims at upgrading the socio-economic situations of the most vulnerable and impoverished communities among deprived areas of Egypt through support to local civil society.

EU Contribution: a grant of € 10,000,000.00

Start date: 27/04/2016                 End date: 26/11/2019

Location: Some of Egypt's governorates: Assiut, Qena, Sohag, Beni Suef, Luxor, Alexandria and Baheira Governorates

Partners: Four international NGOs (Plan, Care, Save the Children and ACF)

Beneficiaries: Most vulnerable populations of all the targeted governorates mentioned

Description: This EU-funded project offers small grants that allow around 500 local CSOs to launch their own micro-projects in the field of socio-economic development. Women, children, youth, people with specific needs as well as rural cooperatives and small farms are thus enabled to initiate their own activities and build their own livelihood in various regions of the country, in particular in Upper Egypt.
