Background:

Since 2007, the European Union (EU) supported the water sector Through total grants of €425 million leveraging €2.1 billion blending with European Financial Institutes, the EU support targeted four main pillars:

  • Investment infrastructure,
  • Capacity Building for demand-oriented and cost covering water systems,
  • Supporting new policies and strategies,
  • Direct and Indirect support to the agriculture field,
  • Creating job opportunities and increasing households income
