Preparation of the National Water Resources Plan for Egypt 2017-2037 (NWRP 2017-2037) (€2 million grant)

Building on the existing NWRP, this TA will draft Egypt's new integrated water resources management strategy. In addition, the new plan aligns its ambitions to the vision provided by Egypt’s Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS 2030)

Background:

Since 2007, the European Union (EU) supported the water sector Through total grants of €425 million leveraging €2.1 billion blending with European Financial Institutes, the EU support targeted four main pillars:

  • Investment infrastructure,
  • Capacity Building for demand-oriented and cost covering water systems,
  • Supporting new policies and strategies,
  • Direct and Indirect support to the agriculture field,
  • Creating job opportunities and increasing households income
