Call for Applications National Dialogue Fellows 2018 (Egypt)Wednesday 28 feb 2018

In the framework of its National Dialogue Fellows Programme, the Civil Society Facility (CSF) South is launching a call for application, targeting Egyptian National Fellows, for a training on “Youth Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation”

Over the past decade, be it in the fields or urban development, education and agriculture, more innovative youth have been taking matters into their own hands and establishing their social ventures. They recognize that charity is not sustainable, and revenue-generating businesses (for-profit or not-for-profit) are needed for a sustainable long-term impact. What Egypt may need now more than ever, is a defined strategy that includes an ecosystem that fosters entrepreneurial thinking across all professions. This would provide fertile grounds for innovation, where social entrepreneurs do not arise from mere coincidence, but rather deliberate training to achieve a greater impact. In most recent years, Egypt’s flourishing entrepreneurial scene started to recognize the social component with more foundations, incubators, workshops and summits being dedicated to the social impact. But this is just the beginning; there is yet a lot of work to be done.

The intended training programme, implemented by CSFS, aims to introduce the Egyptian Youth to Social entrepreneurship that can help create jobs, devise innovative development solutions, and inspire youth to act as citizens who are both economically productive and socially engaged. It also aims to introduce the fellows to needed methods and to promote youth innovation and social entrepreneurship, guided by these central principles of social entrepreneurship: learn how and what is an achievement of positive social impact, non-conventional thinking, use of sustainable methods, and, how to adopt innovation that can be “scaled up” beyond the local context and how such a larger scale social entrepreneurship is able to contribute to systemic and path-breaking change.
