High Representative Federica Mogherini announces senior appointments

Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the Commission, announced today the appointment of two new Heads of EU Delegations.

Michael REITERER has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Korea. He is currently Principal Adviser to the Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific within the European External Action Service and has served as Head of EU Delegation to Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein from 2007 to 2011. He took up duties on 16 February 2017.

Ivan SURKOS has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Egypt. He is a senior Slovak diplomat who has previously served as Director of Diplomatic Protocol in the Slovak ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and as the Slovak bilateral Ambassador to Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. He took up duties on 16 February 2017.
