The European Union Delegation to Egypt launches its 9th annual Photography Competition for amateur photographers under the title

“Job Creativity of Egyptians and Youth”

Cairo, 9th of October 2016

The European Union Delegation to Egypt launches its 9th Photography Competition for amateur photographers under the title “Job Creativity of Egyptians and Youth”.  This year's theme explores the innovation of Egyptian entrepreneurs, whose creativity and endurance in the face of economic uncertainty inspires globally and notably among Egyptian youth. Such creativity deserves to be explored, recorded and celebrated.

Contestants are encouraged to capture the creative means by which many Egyptians find and create employment. There are various opportunities to capture this innovation and ambition, whether it is a street vendor or a college graduate inventing a new gadget. While submissions can emphasise the resilience of Egyptian youth, they should not be not limited in their portrayal of job creativity in the country. Entries can use any subject matter that reflects how Egyptians have challenged unemployment, creating unique job opportunities.

This year's theme showcases Egypt's economic strengths: its people and their ideas. It is also an engaging one, highlighting the vibrancy of Egyptian society. Unlike previous years, the theme of "Job Creativity of Egyptians and Youth" was chosen by the public through an online poll. The theme reflects the long history of entrepreneurship and innovation in Egypt, from the Pyramids to Nobel Prize Winners.

An independent committee of experts and professionals will evaluate the submissions and choose this year's winners. Over a thousand contestants have participated in previous competitions and last year alone saw more than 250 photos submitted by 72 contestants from several governorates.

The European Union Delegation to Egypt will award prizes for the three best photographs as judged by the independent panel and the Delegation's 2017 calendar will feature the top 12 entries. A special award ceremony and exhibition will also be held to showcase the top 30 submissions.

The deadline for submission is Sunday 13th of November, 2016 at 15:30.

Full details on the rules and regulations of the competition can be found on the Delegation's website.
