Summary of the Action

Overall objective

To improve the living conditions of host communities and Syrian refugees in the South-East of Turkey in terms of access to water and sanitation services.

Specific objective(s)

Specific objectives are:

1) Provide access for all to a safely managed drinking water and wastewater service.

2) Participate in the protection of the region’s environment and, in particular, of its resources in fresh water, under stress due to climate change.

3) Support the Municipalities and SKIs in achieving operational and financial sustainability. The specific objectives (ii) and (iii) are essential to the first objective’s sustainability, as the quality of service would not sustain a massive degradation of the water resource or inefficient operational management.

Location

Kilis, Şanlıurfa, Gaziantep, Mersin, Mardin and Adıyaman provinces in Turkey

Target groups

Syrians under Temporary Protection (SuTPs) and host communities
