The Report on the State of Civil Society of the EU-Russia Civil Society Forum reflects on the current situation in a range of civil society organisations (CSOs) across Europe. The report presents key trends in the sector, the challenges that some CSOs face and their responses to them, which are illustrated by concrete examples in the text. The 2020 issue examines the current state of CSOs in Austria, France and Russia, and also dedicates a special chapter to the impact of COVID-19 on civil society across Europe and Russia.

Over the last five years (2016-2020), the Reports have covered 18 EU member states and Russia. In the second part of the event, a short comparative summary of the state of CSOs over the past five years will be presented and commented by authors of the previous studies.
