The European Union Special Representative for Human Rights, Eamon Gilmore will travel to Colombia and Brazil from 22 November to 3 December.

The European Union Special Representative for Human Rights, Eamon Gilmore will travel to Colombia and Brazil from 22 November to 3 December.

In Colombia, EU Special Representative Gilmore will participate in events in Antioquia and Bogotá organized by the Colombian Government, state institutions, and civil society to commemorate the fifth Anniversary of the Peace Agreement, and will hold bilateral meetings with high-level government officials, civil society, the UN and other partners in the peace process.

In Brazil, the EU Special Representative will first visit Belem, where he will meet with local authorities, civil society representatives and human rights defenders belonging to indigenous and traditional communities, as well as environmental groups. In Brasilia, he will hold meetings with high-level government officials, including Minister of Family, Women and Human Rights Damares Alves, the National Council for Human Rights, Congress representatives, the UN and civil society organizations. On 1 December, EU Special Representative Gilmore will co-chair the 10th EU-Brazil Human Rights Dialogue together with Vice-Minister Paulino Franco de Carvalho

EU Special Representative Gilmore has been the EU Special Envoy for the Colombia Peace process since he was appointed by the HRVP in 2015 to support the peace process and implementation of the peace agreements. In this capacity, he visits Colombia regularly and engages with different stakeholders.
