EuroScience Week @ Questacon, Canberra 7-13 October

Space exploration, state-of-the art satellites and superheroes of science! There's plenty to explore during EuroScience Week at Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre in Canberra.

The week-long school-holiday program showcases ground-breaking European scientific achievements of the past, present and future! Throughout the week visiting scientists Dr. Brad Tucker (Astrophysics), Prof. Alex Maier and Melanie Rug (Biology) and Dr. Marina Trigueros (Spanish plant scientist) will be presenting thier research with demonstrations to help understand the current technologies involved in space exploration and the fundamental properties of the Universe. 

Highlights include

What did Polish physicist Marie Skłodowska Curie discover? What is radioactivity? How did Marie Skłodowska Curie discover new elements, and what were they? Why did she win her Nobel prizes? (Ages 8 +)

Mon 7th @ 1:30, 2:30, 3:30 & Wed 9th @ 10, 11, 12 

Delve into the workings of Europe’s Large Hadron Collider, its CSI on an atomic scale. How do we search for the tiniest building blocks of matter? It's one of the biggest machines on the planet and it's searching for the smallest elements. (Ages 8 +)

Tue 8th @ 1:30, 2:30, 3:30 & Fri 11th @ 10, 11, 12

Our universe is incredible—but just how do we explore it? (Ages 6+). What is the International Space Station for? What can we learn from the Hubble telescope? Why was the Cassini so ambitious?

The New Martians 

We’ve landed on Mars. It’s time to build a brave new world in a hostile environment. What are the challenges we’ll face? (Ages 8+)
