The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 28 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organisations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.

The EU Delegation to Djibouti is the diplomatic representation of the EU in Djibouti. It implements the global strategy of the European Union for the region through a large number of actions: development projects, political dialogue, and promotion of EU values, relations with the Djiboutian authorities and the dissemination of information to the Djiboutian people regarding the European Union.

The EU Delegation is also accredited with IGAD, an organisation dedicated to regional integration with which we maintain political relations as well as cooperation.

We offer

We offer a post of Secretary. Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as Secretary – this job function may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Delegation. Under this job function the successful candidate will serve, under the supervision and responsibility of the relevant head of section, as technical and support staff to assist the head of section in administrative and secretarial tasks; assisting Programme and Financial Officers in arranging travel and arranging the logistics for EU officials and /or experts visiting Djibouti; assist in the production of simple reports; arrange appointments and assist in the organisation of meetings and/or workshops/seminars/conferences; encoding transactions in IT corporative IT systems (CRIS, Sysper2, TIM, Ares…); doing minor translation when required (EN to FR or vice versa); drafting/typing of correspondence; reception, recording and distribution/dispatching of correspondence; filing (electronic and/or physical); provide support to other priorities of the delegation as defined by the head of section or Head of Delegation.

We are a multicultural and multilingual work environment, and we enforce EU work place values. The EU Delegation is open from Sunday to Thursday. Local staff are expected to work 37,5 hours/week, from 07:30 to 12:30 and from 13:00 to 15:30.
