Team Europe welcomes the arrival today of one million vaccines procured through COVAX

The EU in Kenya welcomes the arrival of the first batch of one million doses of the Covax vaccine in Kenya. The vaccine is the lifejacket that we were all looking for to save lives and rebuild our way of living.

EU Ambassador to Kenya Simon Mordue said, “This vaccine has brought back a much needed hope that we will soon return to normal. The European Union has been active at the global level to ensure everyone who needs the vaccine receives it regardless of where they come from.”

Catherine Collin, the Head of the European Investment Bank (EIB ) Regional Representation for East Africa said, “Increased international cooperation is essential to put an end to this COVID19 crisis, tackle public health and unlock a prompt and sustainable social and economic recovery. The EIB welcomes the arrival of the first batch of vaccines in Kenya today.  As part of Team Europe, the EIB has already enabled COVAX to make one billion doses of vaccines available in low and middle income countries through our largest ever support for public health.  We stand ready to provide additional backing to COVAX.”
