EU Ambassador Kaminara highlights importance of recognising role of women entrepreneurs for economic uplift

Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan H. E. Ms Androulla Kaminara stressed upon recognising the role of women entrepreneurs in business and their participation in economic activities in Pakistan while

. Organised by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the umbrella of International Chambers Summit (ICS) 2021, the event was attended by women entrepreneurs from all over the country. During her address to the Convention, EU Ambassador Kaminara was of the opinion that greater participation by women entrepreneurs would result in prosperous businesses as well as flourishing communities at every level in Pakistan. Ambassador Kaminara explained that huge potential was available for the businesswomen to expand their work with value addition to their products under the SMEs. In this regard the European Union Delegation to Pakistan would soon launch a forum to provide more  coordination for existing opportunities. This would also help the SMEs to benefit more from the EU-granted GSP+ status granted to Pakistan. Under this initiative, at the beginning, more focus would be given to sectors like the handicrafts, gems, jewellery and tourism. Ambassador Kaminara also elaborated EU’s role in providing technical and vocational training to the workforce in Pakistan under its TVET programme. Ambassador Kaminara maintained that the European Union was the lead funding agency for TVET sector with a focus on empowering women with necessary skills to improve employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
