The EU Funds the Office of Procurement Regulation

19.12.2019

The Delegation of the European Union has signed an agreement for the provision of technical assistance to the Office of Procurement Regulation (OPR). Training will be provided to OPR staff and other stakeholders in a number of areas including advanced procurement, Forensic Auditing and Fraud & Investigation. The support also includes technical editing of the existing handbook on public procurement, retention and disposal. The technical assistance programme will be implemented by Ecorys, an international policy research and consultancy company from the Netherlands, over a period of one year at a cost of EUR 98,636.00.

Aad Biesebroek, Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Trinidad and Tobago stated: "The OPR has an important mandate to ensure that public procurement of goods and services for the benefit of its citizens, is carried out in a manner that respects the principles of good governance – transparency, accountability and integrity – and sustainable development.  The training will ensure that the OPR is better equipped to draft procurement regulation, perform oversight and provide training in procurement management to officers in the public sector. I am very pleased that we are partnering with the OPR on this important topic."
