Team Europe Marches with Pride in Strasbourg

On Saturday 14 June, the EU Delegation to the Council of Europe and Ambassadors and diplomats of EU Member States’ Permanent Representations to the Council of Europe proudly took part in the Strasbourg Marche des Visibilités, joining the Pride March as Team Europe.

Together with diplomats from EU Member States, the Delegation walked in a powerful demonstration of unity, celebrating diversity and standing up for the rights of LGBTIQ+ persons. This collective presence was a visible expression of the EU’s steadfast commitment to equality, inclusion, and human dignity. The EU remains a strong global defender of the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights by LGBTIQ+ persons without discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Equality and non-discrimination are core EU values, as emphasised in the founding Treaties and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.

Speaking ahead of the Pride March in Strasbourg, the EU Ambassador to the Council of Europe affirmed on behalf of the EU and its Member States:

“Every individual has the right to enjoy all human rights and fundamental freedoms in full, without discrimination of any kind. We reaffirm our strong commitment to respect, protect and fulfil the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights by LGBTI persons both within the EU and globally.”

By joining the Strasbourg Pride, Team Europe gave life to these principles: raising awareness, showing solidarity, and contributing to the ongoing fight for equality across Europe and beyond.

Together, we are not only celebrating diversity, but also driving change towards a more inclusive and just world.
