Exchanging perspectives and avenues of collaboration in the field of youth policy: EU Delegation visit at the European Youth Centre Strasbourg

On 6 December, Ambassador Vesna Batistić Kos, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Council of Europe, visited the European Youth Centre Strasbourg and met with Mr Tobias Flessenkemper, Head of the Youth Department, Ms Marie Farigoules, Executive Director of the EYCS, and Ms Clotilde Talleu, Manager of the Youth Partnership.

The objective of the meeting was to exchange on the Youth Department’s work and specifically the EU-Council of Europe’s Youth Partnership Workplan for 2024-2025, to discuss priorities and projects in 2024, and to talk about the collaboration of the EU and the Council of Europe in the field of youth. It was also an excellent opportunity for the Ambassador to discover the European Youth Centre’s facilities and to get a better understanding of the activities that the Centre organises and hosts.

In the next two years, the European Commission and the Council of Europe will continue promoting synergies between their youth sectors and cooperating on specific issues of common interest. The Youth Partnership, a cooperation programme established in 1998, provides added value to the partner institutions in their respective work; for the European Commission – on implementing the aims of the EU Youth Strategy and the legacy of the European Year of Youth; for the Council of Europe – on the four priorities of its Youth Strategy 2030, and the implementation of the Reykjavik Declaration and Principles of Democracy of the 4th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe. In this light, the Partnership acts as a platform of cooperation and exchange of expertise, research, and best practices in regard to youth work, youth policy, and youth research.
