What we offer

The role

As required, the successful candidate will provide and contribute to:

-          monitoring, reporting and analysis on developments in Costa Rica and the Central America region;

-          Speeches, statements and articles in support of political and policy dialogue of the European Union;

-          Close collaboration with the Cooperation section of the EU Delegation to promote projects;

-          The organisation of high-level visits and Delegation events and their promotion, seminars, etc promoting the EU;

-          Public relations that include mass media, communicators, influencers, government, cultural sector, academic, political and civil society;

-          Attention and response to media requests;

-          Preparation of daily press review. Support in the monitoring and follow-up of specific topics in the media;

-          Accompany internal or external meetings to follow up on issues related to communication, visibility, public diplomacy;

 

The role will involve establishing and maintaining positive working relations with interlocutors from State institutions, civil society and the private sector as well as with the international community.

The place of work is the Delegation of the European Union for Costa Rica, located in the Torre Universal, 19th floor, in front of La Sabana, southeast corner of Parque Metropolitano La Sabana, Avenida 12 and Calle 42, Mata Redonda, San Jose, Costa Rica.

The contract is open-ended with a probationary period. We offer a progressive and competitive career in an international environment. You will be hired in Group I.

Remuneration based on proven relevant professional experience. Salary starts from CRC 2,000,000 gross & benefits.

What we look for

Requirements:

-Completed university studies attested by a diploma, preferable in one of the following areas:  Communication, journalism, public relations, political sciences, international relations

-Professional experience of at least two years in the field of press and information or communication

-Excellent command (spoken and written) of Spanish and English;

-Computer skills, particularly Windows and MS Office, drafting for web and social media.

-Costa Rica nationals or candidates with residence in Costa Rica and valid work permit;

-Excellent writing and oral communication skills;

-Ability to coordinate, prioritise and organise in order to meet deadlines; Ability to cope with stressful situations;

-Excellent interpersonal skills;

-Discretion and confidentiality;

-The candidate should be flexible, motivated, pro-active, and dynamic, have a sense of initiative and have the ability to adapt to working alone or in a team in a multicultural environment

It will be considered as an advantage to have:

-A Master's degree in one of the above mentioned areas

-Knowledge of the EU Institutions

-Work in any other international organisation

-Any other EU language.

The selection procedure will be based on an evaluation of the applications and a written test. Only the 10 best candidates with at least 50% of the written test score will be invited for an interview.
