On 23 October 2020 a high-level webinar took place between Indonesia and the European Union (EU) to discuss the road to the Climate COP 26, which will take place in Glasgow, United Kingdom on 1-12 November 2021.

On 23 October 2020 a high-level webinar took place between Indonesia and the European Union (EU) to discuss the road to the Climate COP 26, which will take place in Glasgow, United Kingdom on 1-12 November 2021.

Indonesia was represented by H.E. Mr Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs. The EU was represented by H.E. Mr Frans Timmermans, Vice President of the European Commission, H.E. Mr Rasmus Prehn, Minister for International Development Cooperation, Denmark, H.E. Ms Stientje van Veldhoven, Minister for the Environment, The Netherlands and H.E. Mr Sergio Costa, Minister of the Environment and of the Protection of the Territory and of the Sea, Italy.

EU and Indonesian senior officials continued the dialogue focusing how the two sides can increase cooperation on greening our economies and stepping up climate action.

The closed door event will be followed by the EU Climate Diplomacy Week 2020 in Indonesia, which is part of an annual global campaign. It will run from 24 October to 6 November 2020, presenting 34 activities under the theme “Act Today for Our Tomorrow”. Eight EU Member States (Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden) as well as the European Union will contribute with events and on the Indonesian side, we will have the participation of the government, and approximately 100 non-profit organisations, youth groups, community representatives, private sector, celebrities and opinion leaders, as well as environmental activists and young climate warriors from across the country.
