The global coronavirus pandemic has brought devastation and hardships bringing our way of life to a near halt. Closed geographical boundaries and confinement, disruptions to our mostly linear global supply chain systems, is forcing us to rethink our production and consumption patterns.
Resource efficiency as a strategy can help in reducing import dependence and growing domestic manufacturing as well as providing a cushion from international resource price volatility and uncertain availability. With adoption of resource efficiency associated technological innovations- new jobs requiring reskilling will emerge.
On behalf of the Delegation of the European Union to India, the EU Policy and Outreach Partnership (EUPOP) project and the EU-Resource Efficiency Initiative (EU-REI) invites you to the EU- India webinar on, "Resource Efficiency for Greening of Recovery and fostering Sustainable Economic Growth in a resource constrained world”, on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The webinar aims to have an informed discussion on the potential linkages of resource efficiency (RE) with proposed policies by the Government of India and how the former can catalyse the economic recovery post the Covid-19 pandemic while helping India move on the path of sustainable development. The discussions would also focus on identifying resource efficiency opportunities in key sectors that would be restructured through recovery plans and the associated job creation and re-skilling opportunities that would emerge through this transformation.
