Ministers were set to discuss the first report on implementation of 42 operational actions in seven different fields, taken jointly by the EU and NATO last year, as well as future cooperation.
"In the history of the two institutions never there has been a moment like this with such a strong, solid and cooperative approach – very concrete, very operational", Mogherini highlighted.
This meeting "will be a good opportunity to discuss this with the Ministers and take this work forward in a very constructive way" in view of drawing up a next report, including with new ideas for cooperation by December, said the EU High Representative.
"At the same time we are exploring - to a level that was never tested before - the European Union internal security and defence work. And this shows that the two things go hand in hand. The European Union believes enormously in the capacity of NATO to guarantee security in a broader sense, also for Europe, and we are ready to contribute to our collective global security with a European Union that is stronger on defence and security than ever before."
