The 2018 EU-China "Voyage of Discovery" Children's Art Exhibition was launched at the Yantai Cultural Centre on 29 June 2018. More than 500 artworks drawn by European and Chinese children were exhibited. In his opening speech, representative of the Delegation of the European Union to China, Miklos Horvath expressed his appreciation of the exhibited artworks and highlighted the significance of holding such exhibitions. He noted that "We would like to organize more events to promote cultural dialogue in order to improve mutual understanding and contribute to the strengthening of EU-China bilateral relations."
Denitza Cherneva, in charge of the Culture & Education Affairs of the Bulgarian Embassy in Beijing, also attended the event and gave an interview to local media. She said "I am happy to see that the drawings of our Bulgarian children from Burgas city are also exhibited in such a wonderful place." She added that it was surprising to see how creatively these children had combined elements of both European culture and Chinese history and composed drawings in their own imaginative way.
The "Voyage of Discovery" Children's Art Exhibition is the 2018 edition of the EU's "Dreams of Europe and China" project which started in 2011.
