EU condemns massacres and EC proposes sharper sanctions
The massacres in Bucha & other Ukrainian towns will be inscribed in the list of atrocities committed on European soil. The Russian authorities are responsible for these atrocities, committed during their occupation. Perpetrators will be held accountable.
Russia is waging a cruel, ruthless and unprovoked war, not only against Ukraine's brave troops, but also against its civilian population. It is important to sustain utmost pressure on Putin and the Russian government at this critical point. On 5 April, the European Commission proposed a broader and sharper package of sanctions against Russia.
The European Union is taking a clear stand is not only crucial for us in Europe, but also for the rest of the world. A clear stand against Putin's war of choice. A clear stand against the massacre of civilians. And a clear stand against the violation of the fundamental principles of the world order. More than 140 countries have condemned Russia’s aggression in the UN General Assembly.
