Ditte Juul Jørgensen, Director General for Energy of the European Commission, visited Beijing in her role as co-chair of new UN panel on critical energy transition minerals
On 1 and 2 July, Ms Ditte Juul-Jørgensen, Director-General for Energy at the European Commission visited China in her capacity as co-chair of the newly established UN Panel on Critical Energy Transition Minerals, which aims to address equity, sustainability and human rights across the value chains of critical energy transition minerals.
During her visit, DG Juul-Jørgensen met with China’s Representative to the UN Panel, Professor Chen Zhenyu of the Mineral Resource Institute at the Chinese Academy of Geosciences to discuss next steps for the new UN Panel, as well as China’s participation and priorities. She had several other meetings with Chinese ministries and organizations, most notably with Vice Minister Zhao Yingmin of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
