Title

Artemia4Bangladesh

Artemia4Bangladesh aims at increasing marine aquaculture productivity in Bangladesh while introducing an integrated salt and Artemia production system, benefitting both the salt farmers and marine aquaculture operators. These two economic operators are currently experiencing low productivity and high operating costs. Putting their production systems together will allow (i) creating a more circular approach within the local community, and a more viable economic output (ii) enhancing green jobs in the area as well as (iii) ensuring environmental sustainability.

Locations

Cox's Bazar district of Bangladesh including sub districts Cox's Bazar Sadar, Chokoria, Kutubdia, Ukhia, Moheskhali, Pekua, Ramu and Teknaf. Potential suitable sites for integrated salt- Artemia cyst- marine aquaculture production. Shrimp/ Fish hatcheries at Cox’s Bazar will be primarily focused for improve quality seed production, consumption/ testing of locally produced Artemia cyst and biomass.

The overall objective is to enhance food and nutrition security in Bangladesh through climate smart innovation.

The specific objectives (SO) are:

(SO1) to introduce an integrated salt and Artemia production system, and

(SO2) to increase marine aquaculture production and productivity.
